JUNTOS HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAM

One of our largest causes has been Humane Education Program in all Vieques schools run by Juntos Vieques, a Vieques non-profit organization to which we have donated $11,379 (2016), $12,255 (2015) and $5,700 (2014). Additionally, Rotary/Juntos raffle has raised additional $2,620 (2015) and $8,100 (2014).
BACK TO SCHOOL​
​
In 2015, we have purchase and installed an air conditioner in Monte Santo Kindergarden for $2,300. In 2016, we are helping install screens and screen doors in two classrooms for the smaller children in Playa Grande Elementary School, for a budget of $1,400. This is especially relevant given the Zika virus concerns.
SUPPLIES & PRINTERS

​In 2017, we gave school materials, lunch snacks and waters, color printer, printing supplies to ASSMCA which provides counseling to troubled youth. We have also donated $500 in supplies to COREFI Vieques (2015) which helps the elderly. Rotary Vieques has also provided MS Office for 5 computers, a wireless printer for Luz de Esperanza computer center in Esperanza, and one of Rotarians is providing on-going internet service to this internet library (2015 to Present).
RECYCLING & SANITATION

​In previous years, we have installed 10 Rotary logo trashcans in Ceiba Tree Eco-Park, a new green space and made an arrangement made with municipality to pick up trash in that area. We have also made a donation of reusable water bottles and water coolers to Police Athletic League program which included a ‘Recycle’ message to the kids.
NUMEROUS VIEQUES EFFORTS​

We have also participated in many smaller efforts such as support to Fly Your Kite Against Children Domestic Abuse campaign (2016), helped send a Vieques Municipal Band Batucada member to the PR Day Parade in NYC (2016) and send a promising young baseball player to the national championships in California (2015), Sandra Reyes Art Camp (2015, 2018, 2019), computer purchase by Rescate en Vieques that helps cancer patients (2015), donation of uniforms to two baseball teams (Los Desobedientes, 2013), purchased fence materials for a basketball court (2013), and supported Municipal Basketball Tournament (2015).
PUERTO RICO, USA & INTERNATIONALLY

Together with Rotary Puerto Rico, we have also participated in providing water filters for Wells in Haiti project, in the town of Boumier (2015). We have also supported our district causes such as Hogar Albergue de Niños de San Germán (2016) and Red de Albergues Womens shelters in Ponce (2016). On behalf of Rotary Puerto Rico we have distributed wheelchairs and Spanish-English dictionaries to all schools in Vieques.

​Internationally, we have engaged in various disaster relief efforts, giving to Greater NY Hurricane Sandy (2012), Phillippines Hurricane (2013), Nepal Earthquake (2015), Ecuador Earthquake (2016), Orlando Shooting (2016), and Hurricane Dorian (2019). We also yearly contribute to Rotary Foundation for the worldwide Polio Eradication campaign.
